Will the USPTO conduct a trademark search for me?

Yes, I will, after you file your trademark application. They’re not in the service business so far as you calling them up and saying, “Hey, can you search this for me?” But if you file a trademark application, a search will be done whether you’ve done one or not. That’s why it’s quite useful to do a search beforehand, so that you find out, gee, my mark’s already been used. Who knew? As opposed to filing and having them saying, “No, it’s been done. We can’t register it.”
