What can be patented?

Basically, people come up with improvement on preexisting things and you can patent a combination of things from part A from Radio Shack, and Part B from Toys R Us, and they can be patented parts. But, in order to be patentable, the improvement must be useful. A lump a lead is useful as a paperweight, so that’s a very easy test to pass. And it must be new, meaning so long as the identical thing’s not been done before, it’s new. That’s pretty easy typically. So, the third test is the hard one, and that is, it must be a non obviously improvement on preexisting technology. And that’s where you should ask a qualified patent attorney to help you out there.
