I have an old idea that I still cannot believe has not been made. I even wrote about it many years ago. What should I do?

Old is not the problem, everything that’s ever been invented and patented is a combination of old stuff, unless the martians come and give us a new bunch of goo, we’re stuck with a limited variety of choices to make things from. So old is not the problem. Written about it in the past may be a problem. If it’s a publicly disclosed idea and it’s been publicly disclosed for more than a year it’s not patentable anymore. The only country in the world that gives you a year to patent it is the United States. So the best advice is, keep your ideas confidential.
