How are trade secrets protected?

Trade secrets are protected by keeping them secret. The formula to Coca-Cola, the recipe for KFC, are very famous trade secrets, but if you’re in business, you have trade secrets. The important thing to realize is you’re protecting your trade secrets against your competitor tomorrow, who is currently your most valuable employee. So the key to trade secrets is to have a trade secret sentence or paragraph or page or two that says essentially, we’re gonna hire you, we’re gonna teach you how to do what we’re gonna pay you to do, but you’re gonna know our secrets, and by your signature below, you agree not to take those secrets and use them against us when you quit or you’re fired.
