Can I patent a business method?

Yes, you can. There’s some debate about that. The patent rule say that you cannot patent a method of doing business, but the test for patent ability is that whatever it is you’ve invented must be a useful, new, non-obvious improvement on preexisting technology so anything that meets those three criteria is patentable including business method patents, software that works with machines to solve a medical problem of some sort, for example, is patentable.
